Pay once for the app. Encrypt for a few quid more.

The app sits on your hard drive — a lifetime payment, every update on the v1 line included. Guild is the optional add-on for sync between devices on different networks. Society adds the writers on top — private Circles, direct messages, co-writing — and includes Guild. Either way, only you can read your work — even Trove cannot.

Founders price: £39 until 1 January 2027.

Same lifetime app, same five-machine licence, same v1 updates. After that it returns to £49.

Optional add-on

What Guild adds.

Your own devices, in step. Encrypted on your machine first, routed through Trove second — nobody but you can read what travels.

Encrypted sync between your own machines — only you can read it
Every device you write on kept in step — desktop, laptop, phone, tablet
Stop mid-sentence on one machine, carry on from another
Hosted storage for your encrypted sync traffic
Cancel anytime — the app keeps working offline, on disk

Encrypted with the same standard behind Apple iMessage. The technical spec is public on our docs site if you want the detail.

Guild + community

What Society adds.

The other writers. Small invite-only rooms rather than a public feed — and Guild's sync is included underneath, so Society is one subscription, not two.

Everything in Guild, including sync across your own devices
Private writing Circles — small groups with excerpt critique built in
Direct messages with other writers, encrypted end-to-end
Shared sprints and a reading room for work in progress
Profile and discovery on the Trove network
Live co-writing sessions with another writer (coming soon)

Society needs Guild active underneath it, so buying Society covers both. There is no way to end up paying twice.

FAQ

Pricing, in plain English.

Sync, Circles, and messages run through a server I have to keep online. That's a real monthly bill — storage, bandwidth, abuse handling, security patches. Charging for the optional service keeps the lifetime tier honest. The app stays a one-off payment; the bit that costs me every month is the bit on a subscription.
